In case you don’t know, there’s a provision in Obamacare that gives you a three-month grace period should you stop paying your premium. It appears that this option is only available to those who receive an Obamacare subsidy.
This provision allows you to get three free months of coverage a year. Under normal circumstances, this would be considered theft. However, I don’t think the same rules apply to companies that conspire with governments to hand them over customers whether the individuals want to buy their service or not. I consider companies like this anomie.
I don’t recommend signing up for this socialist monstrosity but if you must, here are some pointers:
1. Make sure you’re eligible for an Obamacare subsidy.
2. See if you can pay your premiums monthly without using auto-debiting from your checking account. If you must use auto-debit, open a new checking account. This is so you can keep using your first account while the Obamacare premiums bounce in your second.
3. Pay monthly through your September premium. If you’re using auto-debit, clean out the account being debited. Otherwise, just trash your premium bills for October thru December.
4. Wait until the next year to sign up again. Rinse and repeat!
