80 Illegal Aliens Torpedo Hospital with $24 million in costs

If you think Obamacare is peachy, just take a look at what a measly 80 illegals can do to one hospital.
State of Emergency: Illegal Aliens Burden UMC
Now, I’m sure that millions of more illegals won’t cross the border for medical care if Obamacare passes, right?

Obamacare Lie #1: Obama doesn’t want to destroy private healthcare
August 5, 2009
Regardless of what President Obama says, his prescription to save healthcare will end up crushing private healthcare and leave the government as the sole provider. Think about it. Obama wants to force insurance companies to accept people with pre-existing conditions.
While this sounds like a good idea in theory, in practice it will bankrupt insurers. What most people don’t understand is that insurance is based on probabilities. Everyone pools their money and no one knows in ADVANCE who will benefit. If someone knows in advance they’ll benefit, then it’s not insurance. It’s systematic wealth redistribution.
Just imagine if the government thought it was a terrible thing for people to go without car insurance and forced insurers to accept car owners with pre-existing conditions, e.g., collision damage. Would anyone think this was a good idea? Of course not. Car insurance companies would go out of business overnight from people without the foresight or desire to buy insurance before they had accidents. In effect, it would lead to massive wealth redistribution from existing to insureds to new insureds.
Of course it’s unfortunate that some people cannot get insurance. But is the solution to socialize medicine and force everyone else to suffer under a healthcare system that will most definitely be plagued with poor service, limited choices, and long lines? I don’t think so.
We should repeal the thousands of government coverage mandates on health insurance companies and let them insure ailments and injuries that people have little or no control over. The rest should be paid out of pocket. When this happens, medical care will be affordable.
Don’t think so. Consider this. Radial keratotomy eye surgery and plastic surgery aren’t covered by insurance. Ever hear of $200k radial keratotomy or plastic surgeries? Of course not. Why? Because people have pay for these surgeries out of their own pocket. When that happens, prices have to drop to a level where people can afford them.
Here’s a video where President Obama admits his goal is to put private health insurance companies out of business. The video also shows Barney Frank admitting that the public option will lead to single payer.

Obamacare Lie #2: Canadian healthcare is a shining success
August 4, 2009
If you believe this one, you’ll probably also believe that Obamacare will give you a free unicorn ride with every mandatory checkup. Did you know that it’s illegal to pay for private medical care in Canada? Yes, you heard me right. Illegal! Even so, every week private health clinics are opening. Wait a minute! Why would anyone break the law and pay for healthcare when they can get it for “free”? Why? Because Canadian socialized medicine is a big FAILURE.
Not only do you have to wait months to get life-saving operations or treatment, it’s also practically impossible to get a family doctor without waiting years. Don’t believe me. Watch the videos on this site. You’ll see government employees telling people to seek private care if they don’t want to wait hours, weeks, or months for treatment. You’ll also see a lottery for family doctor openings.

Obamacare Lie #3: A government alternative will help competition
August 2, 2009
That’s a hoot! Imagine you own a burger joint. One day, the government decides your prices are too high, so it opens up a competing burger joint across the street. This sounds innocuous but think about it. The government burger joint doesn’t have to make a profit. If it loses money, it can use its power to tax to make up any deficit. The government could sell burgers for a penny and still not go out of business. How is any business to compete with a competitor that has the power to tax?
But wait there’s more… Not only does the government have the power to tax. It can also regulate the competition. So, the government could now mandate that all burgers contain one pound of beef. Any burgers with less than one pound of beef are substandard and subject to severe government fines. Will the government burger joint suffer? Of course not. It sets the rules and can offset any extra costs with taxes.
The end result is the gradual loss of private competition. This is what will happen when government starts competing against private insurers. One by one, insurers will go out of business.
Obamacare Lie #4: You won’t have to wait months for an operation
August 2, 2009
Sure, you won’t have to wait months. You’ll have wait SEVERAL months! Ever see what happens when a gas station offers $1 gas or when a burger joint gives away free burgers? What happens? Long lines! When payment is severed from service, people tend to demand more than normal. This leads to lines. Long lines.
Now imagine if you could go to the doctor whenever you wanted without paying anything extra. You might go to the doctor for a hang nail. A bloody nose. Or a mild cough. Why not? It’s “free”! There’s only one thing short of machine guns that will reduce lines. It’s free market prices.
If you don’t think there will be long waits for operations, check out the videos on this site. Every year thousands of Canadians come to the US just to get healthcare. You see, they’d rather pay for healthcare that’ll save their lives than wait for “free” healthcare that may take 6 months or more to get. If you had cancer or something similarly serious, would you want to wait several months for treatment or cross the border to the US and get immediate treatment?
What’s worse than waiting months for an operation? Being denied that operation by government healthcare bureaucrats. Check out the John Stossel video on the site. An elderly Canadian woman was denied alife-saving operation because the bureaucrats told her it was “elective.” Luckily, she found Rick Baker from Timely Medical Alternatives that helped her get care over here for medical care. In the video she says the only thing elective about her surgery was that she “elected to live!” See it for yourself.

Obamacare Lie #5: Government will reduce costs
August 2, 2009
It’s hard to believe anyone can fall for this lie. Seriously, can you think of one thing the government does that costs less the private sector equivalent? A general rule is that anything the government does will cost at least twice what it would in the private sector.
This is because there is absolutely no incentive to cut costs. If a business owner cuts costs, he can pocket the extra cash. If a government bureaucrat cuts costs, what can he do? Pocket it? No. It’s not his money. Instead, there’s an incentive for bureaucrats to increase costs. The more his costs rise, the bigger his staff grows, the more perqs he can get, etc. In government, you either use your alloted budget or you lose it. So what do you think happens? Exactly. Every penny is used and budgets grow each year.
Another thing the government’s mouthpieces seem to overlook is the fact that one major reason healthcare is so expensive is because the government imposes over 2,000 coverage mandates on health insurance companies. Again, government is the cause. Not the solution.
